I first noticed the Blog Herald’s piece on Widgets From Automattic and then went to Automattic to discover “Widgetizing Themes.”
I remembered that Andy Wibbels had done an excellent piece on adding the Chitika mini-mall to your Blog, opened it up, logged in here and found that Weblog Tools has their own entry up today “WP hack: Widgetizing Themes.”
What’s it all about? I’ve seen the inexperienced folks ask this question in the forums - “How do I change or add things to my sidebar?” Along with the opportunity to add a “widget” to your Blog, reading through these resources will offer you a better understanding of how to add items in your sidebar.
